College GameDay is a stable of college football broadcasting. Every week during the regular season, the show, which includes the likes of Nick Saban, Pat McAfee, and Kirk Herbstreit, broadcasts from a select campus, usually the one that is hosting a crucial game during that week.
During the postseason, the schedule for College GameDay loses its regular pattern due to the lack of highly anticipated games. But, with the College Football Playoff semifinals being held this week, fans have been wondering whether the program will be on their screens.
Is there College GameDay this week?
There is not only one edition of College GameDay this week but two. Normally, fans would see an edition of the program before the CFP semifinals, but, as with the entire playoff system, things are different this year. Due to the semifinals being held on two separate nights, there will be two editions of College GameDay.
The first edition will be held on Thursday night before the Orange Bowl. The show will take place in Miami, Florida and will help fans preview the game between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Penn State Nittany Lions.
Then, Friday will see another edition of the iconic show. This will be held in Dallas, Texas, before the Cotton Bowl. The show will precede the game between the Texas Longhorns and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Both editions of the show will begin at 6:00 p.m. ET and are likely to feature the usual stars the show has become known for throughout the year.
How many times have the remaining CFP teams been on College GameDay this season?
The four teams remaining in the College Football Playoff this year have each played numerous "big games" this season, all of whom could have been a host site for College GameDay. But how many times have these teams featured on the program in the 2024 season?
Notre Dame has been on the program twice this year. This was during the first week of the season against Texas A&M and their game with the Indiana Hoosiers during the first round of the CFP.
Penn State has only been on the program once this season, and that was their match against Ohio State.
The Buckeyes have been featured on College GameDay five times so far, with both of their playoff games getting coverage.
The Longhorns have been featured four times so far, with their games against the Michigan Wolverines, Texas A&M, and both of their battles with the Georgia Bulldogs being preceded by the GameDay crew.
