Deion Sanders is entering his second year as the coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, but could he soon be going to the NFL? Recently, it was discussed on ESPN's 'Get Up' if Sanders would make sense as the coach of the Dallas Cowboys.
Sanders played for the Cowboys from 1995 until 1999 and won a Super Bowl with the team. Cowboys fans still like him, and with Mike McCarthy's future up in the air, ESPN's Mike Greenberg wondered if Dallas could hire Sanders.
"I'm listening to him talking about Jerry Jones," said Mike Greenberg, via SI. "I'm contemplating a world in which his son Shedeur Sanders is going to be one of the top draft picks and the top quarterback in the upcoming NFL draft. I'm envisioning a season in which Jerry Jones seems relatively satisfied to let Mike McCarthy have a one-and-done situation.
"To let Dak Prescott have a one-and-done situation. I'm picturing the ultimate marketer, the ultimate salesman, the ultimate drama, which is Jerry Jones and I'm picturing him imagining Deion and Shedeur Sanders as his coach and his quarterback next year."
However, it was just hypothetical as nothing is confirmed yet that he would go to the Cowboys. Plus, McCarthy is still the coach, while Sanders is focused on Colorado.
Meanwhile, whether or not Sanders would even have any interest in being an NFL coach is also uncertain — so there is nothing imminent about him going to Dallas.
Deion Sanders has said he won't follow his kids to the NFL
Deion Sanders will coach his sons, Shedeur and Shilo, in his second year with the Colorado Buffaloes.
With both Shedeur and Shilo likely going to the NFL next season, many are wondering if Coach Prime will try and get an NFL coaching job. However, he said he is a college coach and shot the rumor down.
“I’m a father, not a baby daddy. I don’t follow my kids. I pave roads for my kids. I build generational wealth for my kids. I lead my kids. I don’t follow my kids. So I do not plan on following my kids to the NFL. I have work to do here," Sanders said, via Bolavip.
Sanders went 4-8 last season with Colorado after starting the year 3-0. The Buffaloes will open its 2024 college football season on Aug. 29 against North Dakota State.
