Florida State Seminoles quarterback DJ Uiagalelei did not have the greatest start to the season. The former Oregon State Beavers quarterback struggled against his opposition.

However, Uiagalelei hasn't played for the last few weeks due to an injury.

The 1–7 Florida State Seminoles face the 4–4 North Carolina Tar Heels this weekend. But will DJ Uiagalelei play in this game?

Is DJ Uiagalelei playing today?

DJ Uiagalelei will not be playing in the game against the Tar Heels.

Backup quarterback Brock Glenn will take his place. He has been doing this for the last few weeks as Uiagalelei is out with his injury.

Glenn will play alongside Luke Kromenhoek. The pair may share quarterback duties, as in previous games.

How did DJ Uiagalelei get injured?

DJ Uiagalelei has not played for the Seminoles since their defeat to the SMU Mustangs in late September.

During the fourth quarter of the defeat to the Mustangs, Uiagalelei injured his throwing hand. It was later revealed that he had broken his finger. Uiagalelei underwent surgery after the incident.

At the time of injury, Florida State coach Mike Norvell told the media this about Uiagalelei and his potential return:

"We've still got some further testing to see what the longevity of that is going to keep him out, but that will most likely be the next couple of weeks."

However, this was nearly five weeks ago, and there has been no update on Uiagalelei's condition since.

This means, with only a few games left in the season, Uiagalelei's return to the Seminoles is unlikely.

This will end his career in college football, and potentially in football generally, as it is unlikely he is on any professional team's radar.

DJ Uiagalelei's 2024 statistics

After a strong season with the Oregon State Beavers in 2023, DJ Uiagalelei moved to the Florida State Seminoles, one of the strongest teams in college football last season.

But 2024 has not been kind to Uiagalelei and the Seminoles. Before his finger injury, he led the Seminoles in five games, winning one (a narrow win over the California Golden Bears) and losing the others.

In those five games, Uiagalelei threw for 1,065 yards and had a completion percentage of 53.8%. He also threw four touchdowns and six interceptions.
