The No. 18 Oklahoma Sooners (4-1) will play the No. 1 Texas Longhorns (5-0) on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET in the Red River Rivalry. Since it's an SEC matchup, the game will take place at the Cotton Bowl.

Ahead of the highly anticipated rivalry showdown, star Oklahoma receiver Nic Anderson has been dealing with an injury, and his status for the game is up in the air.

Oklahoma Sooners receiver Nic Anderson won't be playing today against the Texas Longhorns as he is out with an injury.

Anderson has been dealing with a quad injury and is listed as out for the game, as he has only played in one matchup this season. The star receiver played against Tennessee but didn't record any stats as the injury has hampered him. He's expected to be out a couple more weeks as well.

The sophomore was expected to be a key part of the Sooners offense this season. As a freshman last season, he caught 38 passes for 798 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Against Texas last year, Anderson caught the game-winning three-yard touchdown with 15 seconds to play. Losing Anderson will be tough for Oklahoma, as Sooners coach Brent Venables has said playing Texas is a tough challenge.

“It’s going to be a tremendous challenge,” Venables said, via SI. “Texas is playing probably better than anybody in college football right now. They are a complete football team. No noticeable flaws, and I don’t think they've given up a point in the first quarter all year.
"Just really playing great complementary football. (Quinn Ewers) has been out and Arch Manning has done a fantastic job, no surprise, so they hadn’t missed a beat."

Along with Anderson, receivers Jalil Farooq, Jayden Gibson and Andrel Anthony are all listed as out for Oklahoma on the injury report.

Without those four receivers out, the Sooners will rely on tight end Bauer Sharpe and receivers Deion Burks, Brenen Thompson and J.J. Hester.
