Texas Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers is set to lead the program in his third year as the starting QB. He initially began his collegiate career with the Ohio State Buckeyes in 2021.
Ewers made his debut for the Buckeyes against Michigan State, following which he decided to transfer to the Longhorns ahead of the 2022 season. There, he was immediately named as the starter.
During his two-season stint under Steve Sarkisian, Ewers has impressed fans and the program with his performance. As he continues his preparations for the 2024 season, the young QB is currently attending Peyton Manning's camp at the Manning Passing Academy.
At the camp, Quinn Ewers was questioned about how it felt to be the starting QB of a program like Texas. He replied by stating that this was a 'dream' of his.
Ewers also expressed his gratitude to Steve Sarkisian for having faith in his abilities and allowing him to prove his worth.
"It's a dream come true for me. Grew up in Texas and to be able to put that state name on my chest and play in the orange is, it's been nothing but the best few years of my life. And couldn't be more thankful for the university and coach Sark and all the coaches for giving me an opportunity to play at Texas," Ewers said.
Last season, Quinn Ewers was successful in leading the Longhorns to a Big 12 championship title. They qualified for the playoffs as well, where they lost to the Washington Huskies. Ewers finished the season with a total of 3,479 passing yards and 22 touchdown passes.
Quinn Ewers has high praise of Longhorns HC Steve Sarkisian
During an appearance on RGIII's podcast, Ewers went on to express his gratitude for everything that Steve Sarkisian taught him during his time in Texas.
He went on to talk about how Sarkisian uses his own knowledge of playing college QB and utilizing it in developing their talents on the field.
"Just him being in the position that we've been in, he played college quarterback, and then went to the Canadian League. So he obviously know. He knows what it feels like to be in our shoes," Ewers said.
"We're getting a PhD in quarterback play here. So he's been there. He's done that. He's had, you know, Heisman trophy winners, he's had first round draft picks. So, I mean, you'd be silly not to trust the guy." (20:30)
The Longhorns will compete as a member of the SEC conference this upcoming season. It will be interesting to see how Quinn Ewers performs in arguably the most challenging conference in college football.
