College football fans took to social media to react to analyst Lee Corso almost falling during his recent ESPN College GameDay appearance. GameDay made its way to the Orange Bowl CFP semifinal showdown between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Penn State Nittany Lions.

Lee Corso, who is 89 years old, is one of the cornerstones of ESPN College GameDay and has significantly impacted the show's success. He was accompanied to the stage by Notre Dame's mascot while dressed as a leprechaun. That is when he almost fell while dancing on the stage and was saved by the Fighting Irish mascot.

One fan felt that Lee Corso should retire from the broadcasting business before any major accident happens:

"It's time before there is any major accident."

Another fan said that College GameDay should consider the 89-year-old's health before making him do anything on the show.

"Yeah they didn't think that through."

One fan used this incident to take a shot at ESPN Network:

"ESPN did, have you not noticed they are not always in the interest of the people yet when it comes to well being?"

Another fan said that it was fun seeing Lee Corso still doing what he loves at this age:

"I'm happy Corso is still doing what makes him happy."

One fan felt that the College GameDay legend was okay and was just enjoying life:

"He was having fun, the mascot was there for support. He's fine. My 95 YO grandpa w two knee replacements danced at my sisters wedding. Let the boys play!"

One fan praised the mascot for his quick thinking and for saving Corso from falling:

"Shoutout to the mascot. Catch of the year nominee."

Corso joined ESPN back in the 1980s and has been a major figure since the start of College GameDay, which was released in 1987. Fans fell in love with his colorful and joyous personality on the show.

However, because of his age, his appearance on the panel has reduced over the years as he is unable to make the trips during the season.

Who did Lee Corso pick in Notre Dame vs. Penn State CFP semifinal showdown?

Corso chose Notre Dame as his pick in the 2025 Orange Bowl CFP semifinal game. He was joined by Nick Saban and Kirk Herbstreit, who also picked Marcus Freeman's team while Desmond Howard and Pat McAfee picked Penn State as the winners.

However, it looks like the Nittany Lions might take home the victory and seal their spot in the national championship game. In the fourth quarter, the Nittany Lions have a 24-17 lead over the Fighting Irish. It will be interesting to see if Marcus Freeman's team can make a comeback in the last few minutes.
