Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe had one of his quieter performances of the season during his team's 24-17 loss to the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday at the raucous Neyland Stadium. The loss represented the second game dropped by Bama after the shocking loss to the Vanderbilt Commodores in Week 6 of college football action.
In a game against a stout Vols' defense, Milroe went 25 of 45 for 239 yards on 56% completion (his lowest of the season), resulting in one touchdown and two interceptions. It was the second consecutive game that the quarterback had thrown two interceptions and the fourth straight game throwing an interception.
The game against Tennessee was also Milroe's first without a rushing touchdown, and according to BetMGM, his Heisman Trophy odds tumbled to +3000 from +1300 the week before.

During his postgame news conference, Jalen Milroe took the blame for the communication breakdown that the Crimson Tide offense experienced during the game.
“I’ve gotta take full ownership of that,” Milroe said. “When it comes to communication upfront, communication to the guys around, I’ve gotta do better on my end, playing with better detail. Communication up front and allowing our guys to line up properly with the communication.
“So that’s something that going back, we’re just gonna build on and get better at and something that I acknowledge as we were playing. So it’s all about building, it’s all about rebuilding and also where we were not at our best today.”
Jalen Milroe backed by teammate after Vols debacle
Jalen Milroe has been under the spotlight ever since the Alabama Crimson Tide lost in Nashville to the Vanderbilt Commodores, immediately after a stunning win against the Georgia Bulldogs in Week 5.
After the game against the Tennessee Volunteers, Bama wide receiver Germie Bernard backed his teammate and expressed the team's confidence in its QB1 during his postgame news conference.
"He's (Milroe) been through adversity himself. He knows how to lead," Bernard said. "He's been behind great quarterbacks. He's seen Bryce Young do it. I'm just gonna continue to believe in him and trust in him because I know he can get it done... As long as we continue to have his back, that's what it's gonna take."
Next up for Jalen Milroe and the Crimson Tide is a road game against the Missouri Tigers with barely any room to slip up between now and the end of the season if Alabama is to make the expanded College Football Playoff.
