Wide Receiver Jimmy Horn Jr. has been a key player in the Colorado Buffaloes' offense. After transferring from South Florida last season, he quickly became one of the favorite targets of quarterback Shedeur Sanders on the field.
However, during Colorado's ongoing clash with Kansas State, Coach Prime's team suffered a setback as Jimmy Horn Jr. went down with an injury.
Jimmy Horn Jr. injury update
The wide receiver was marked as "questionable" by Colorado for the second half of the game against the Kansas State Wildcats. He came out of the tunnel without a helmet for the third quarter of the game, indicating that he would not make a return to the field for the Buffs.
This proves to be a costly blow for Coach Prime's team as Horn has been a valuable asset in the offense. With the Buffs trailing by 10 points in the fourth quarter, the lack of Horn's agility and speed limited the options for Shedeur Sanders on the field.
The injury to Jimmy Horn Jr. is not the only setback for Colorado in this Week 7 clash. The Buffs also lost two-way star Travis Hunter in the first half of the game to an apparent injury. His absence will alter Colorado's offense and defense.
Hunter exited the game catching three passes for 26 yards on offense and making one tackle on defense. He also returned without a helmet in the second half like Horn, indicating that his return to the field was also highly unlikely.
What happened to Jimmy Horn Jr.?
In the first half of the game, the wide receiver was a major part of Colorado's game plan against the Wildcats. Unfortunately, while Horn was attempting a catch over the middle, he was met with a bruising hit, after which he was evaluated on the sidelines.
Before taking the hit, the wide receiver caught three passes for 20 yards. With the loss of both Travis Hunter and Horn, Colorado's depth chart will be tested to its utmost potential against a ranked Big 12 team. It will be interesting to see if the Buffs can turn the game in their favor despite the lack of firepower in the offense.
