Joenel Aguero was ejected from Georgia’s game against Texas on Saturday for targeting after what had been a brilliant outing for him. The defensive back left the game with just under seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter with the Bulldogs leading 30-15 in Austin.
Aguero was disqualified from the game following a hit on Quintrevion Wisner. The initial on-field decision saw no wrongdoing in the tackle, but a review of the action by the officials led to a change in the decision. JaCorey Thomas came in his place.
Before his ejection, Aguero had recorded five tackles, including three solo, against Texas.

With his ejection from the game on Saturday, Joenel Aguero will face a mandatory suspension. The sophomore will miss the first half of the upcoming game against Florida. His absence could impact Georgia's defense in the star position early in the critical matchup.
In five games heading into the Texas game, Aguero had tallied 14 combined tackles this season, with one tackle for loss.
Joenel Aguero was not the only Georgia player ejected from the game
Joenel Aguero was not the only Georgia player ejected from the game against Texas on Saturday. Before he left the hotly contested encounter, Dan Jackson was also disqualified from the game for targeting following a hit on Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden.
Jackson’s exit led Kirby Smart to reshuffle the defensive backfield before play continued. Freshman safety KJ Bolden stepped in to fill Jackson’s void in Georgia's secondary. Malaki Starks was shifted to the safety position while Joenel Aguero remained at star.
This strategic adjustment aimed to maintain defensive stability despite the loss of key players. The loss of Jackson and the subsequent exit of Aguero had no impact on the outcome of the game. The Bulldogs were able to hold on to the scoreline until the conclusion of the game.
Georgia's defensive performance against Texas

He also recovered a fumble by quarterback Manning, setting up a critical field goal for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs recorded a total of seven sacks in the game with Mykel Williams responsible for two while Daylen Everette and Damon Wilson II had one each. The Longhorns also turned the ball over four times with one interception and three fumbles.
