Julian Lewis paid another visit to Colorado during the weekend as the university continues to maintain a strong interest in him. The class of 2025 quarterback has given his commitment to USC, but the Buffaloes remain around the corner to convince him to flip.
In the latest visit to Boulder, Lewis took a picture with Colorado starting quarterback Shedeur Sanders. He sat on a Colorado-themed throne while Sanders passed him a key. This gave a clear message of passing the starting quarterback role to the five-star prospect.
With Julian Lewis still committed to USC, the picture has resulted in a wild reaction among college football fans. Fans are already seeing the quarterback flipping his commitment in the future. On the other hand, some are suggesting better college football programs for him.
Here’s a look at some of the reactions,
Is a potential flip around the corner for Julian Lewis?
Although Julian Lewis has committed to USC, it appears he is increasingly viewing Colorado as a compelling option. Reports indicate that the quarterback's family has become enamored with the team's offense and the Buffaloes are working to secure his commitment.
Steve Wiltfong of On3 provided an update on the quarterback's recruitment a few months ago on "The Inside Scoop" recruiting show. He noted that Deion Sanders and his staff are set to give all it takes to see Lewis flip his commitment away from USC in favor of Colorado.
“They're certainly in the middle of a battle,” Wilfong said. “He's obviously been committed to USC since last fall, visited USC a few weeks ago, but it's still going to be a challenge for the Trojans to hang out there.”
This presents a strong possibility of seeing Lewis flip his commitment to Colorado in the future. The Trojans have lost some five-star prospects in recent weeks, and losing the quarterback will be another massive blow for Lincoln Riley’s team.
The chance to play early
One reason Colorado is a great choice for Julian Lewis is the opportunity to become a starter right from his freshman season. Shedeur Sanders is expected to leave for the NFL after the 2024 college football season, which makes it perfect timing.
“Colorado has a lot of energy,” Lewis told 247Sports. “Coach Prime is super positive and motivating. Talking to coach (Pat) Shurmur and Shedeur (Sanders), they want me to make the best decision for me, but made it clear that I have the opportunity to play early."
It remains to be seen what the quarterback decision will be in the next couple of months. The performance of both USC and Colorado, who will both be playing in a new conference, in the upcoming season might have some influence on his decision.
