Julian Lewis has committed to the No. 16-ranked Colorado Buffaloes (8-2, 6-1 Big 12) program. Per 247sports.com, the four-star ranked quarterback announced his commitment in a stylish video.
The video features a symbolic moment: current Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders literally hands the team's keys over to Lewis.
Shedeur has been vital to the Buffaloes team in the last two years. Since his father Deion Sanders took over as coach, Shedeur has been the team's star player.
While he and many of the Buffaloes struggled to perform well and win games last season, there has been a significant turnaround in 2024.
Shedeur has been among the best players in the latest College Football season. He has thrown for 3,222 yards and 27 touchdowns, and the Buffaloes have won eight games this season.
In what is one of their best seasons in early 10 years, Sanders could still lead the team to a spot in the Big 12 championship game. A win here would guarantee a place in the College Football Playoffs.
However, this is Shedeur's last season with the Buffaloes (8-2, 6-1 Big 12) and in College Football in general. He has declared for the 2025 NFL Draft and will likely be a top five pick.
This means the Buffaloes will have to find another quarterback to lead them. Finding someone as talented as Shedeur Sanders may be hard, but Julian Lewis is strong enough to fill the gap.
If this video tells us anything, Lewis will likely start as the Buffaloes quarterback as soon as possible.
Who is Julian Lewis, and how can he help Colorado?
Per 247sports.com, Julian Lewis is the sixth-ranked quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class.
Lewis, from Georgia, played for Carrollton High School. During his time there, he threw for over 10,000 yards, and this was done without playing his senior year.
This is another steal in recruitment for Deion Sanders. Lewis is one of the best available and will play in a place that has recently produced a very good quarterback.
He hopes to follow in Shedeur's footsteps and will be able to use the numerous tools that coach Deion Sanders brought in to help his son himself.
However, while Julian Lewis will thrive under Deion Sanders, questions have been raised on whether Sanders will remain with the program. Sanders and his son have been linked to a double move to the NFL.
However, working with Lewis for four years could give Coach Prime a reason to stay with the program long-term. He could use his recruitment skills to help build this team around Julian Lewis.
