Travis Hunter gave the Colorado fans a reason to erupt on Saturday after his clutch play sealed an epic 38-31 overtime win against Baylor in Week 4. Returning to Big 12 action, the Buffaloes sent the game to OT with a massive 43-yard Hail Mary throw in the dying seconds of regulation time.
Once in overtime, they took a 38-31 lead. But Baylor wasn’t going down without a fight. The Bears were at the goal line, setting up what looked like a sure score from Dominic Richardson.
However, Hunter was in the right place as he delivered a game-saving hit at the goal line, forcing the ball out of bounds. The replay upheld the fumble, and the fans stormed the field in celebration.
The buzz on social media was instant. One fan boldly declared on X:
"Just give him the Heisman now"
A couple of fans were blown away by Hunter's knack for making the big play.
A fan said, "If there's a play to be made, Travis Hunter is going to make it."
One X user wrote: "Electric game! Travis Hunter's clutch play not only sealed the win but showcased his incredible talent and determination. Colorado pulled through in OT! Let’s go, Buffs!"
Other fans remarked on Hunter's incredible versatility as he came through on the defensive end.
"He’s actually the best athlete in football right now," said a CFB enthusiast.
"Best 2 way player in cfb history," wrote one fan.
Meanwhile, another fan summed up what many others were thinking about Hunter:
"Travis Hunter is ridiculous"
After this electric performance, Colorado’s #12 is getting Heisman-level hype, and it's hard to argue against it.
Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders help Deion Sanders ward off Baylor threat
It had to be the star duo of Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders who came through for the Buffs and Coach Prime. They delivered when Colorado needed them most, helping Deion Sanders fend off Baylor in a 38-31 overtime win.
The Buffaloes are now 3-1, thanks to another huge performance from Shedeur Sanders and a clutch play from Hunter to force a fumble in overtime. Shedeur racked up 341 yards and two touchdowns that included a 43-yard pass in the end zone to tie the game at 31-31.
In OT, he once again orchestrated a perfect drive, capped by a 1-yard touchdown by Micah Welch.
On the other hand, Hunter recorded 122 receiving yards, including two crucial catches during a third-quarter drive that tied the game. This is Hunter’s fifth consecutive game with over 100 yards receiving.
There’s no denying that Baylor had its moments, but the Buffs' resilience won the game for them. For now, Colorado continues its strong start under Coach Prime.
