Alabama's loss to Tennessee on Saturday in Knoxville has seen many fans lose confidence in Kalen DeBoer. The 24-17 defeat on Saturday marks the Crimson Tide’s second of the season following the historic loss to Vanderbilt in Week 6.
DeBoer’s tenure in Tuscaloosa started brilliantly, winning the first five games, including the iconic victory over Georgia. However, there's been a lot of uncertainty with just one win in the last three games and fans are growing impatient.
College football analyst Brandon Walker expressed his disappointment at Kalen DeBoer following the loss against the Volunteers on Saturday. He believes the former Washington coach is on the route to collapsing the legacy that has been built in Tuscaloosa before him.

"Kalen DeBoer destroying what Nick Saban built at Alabama in just 7 games is damn impressive," Walker wrote.
Kalen DeBoer reacts to Alabama's loss to Tennessee
Alabama was largely underwhelming in the game against Tennessee on Saturday. The Crimson Tide struggled on both sides of the game, leading to reduced confidence in the team among fans.
Kalen DeBoer gave his view on the loss in his postgame press conference in Knoxville:
“Obviously a tough loss, a frustrating loss. We’ve had two now. And we just can’t play team football. We can’t bring it together. One side of the ball has highlight moments, and the other side stumbles and some missed opportunities."
"We try to look inward after every game, and we gotta continue to do the same. I know we’ve got a locker room that’s hurting. I feel like there’s always, I guess, a common feel in the locker room after a loss. But these guys, no doubt in my mind, that they pour everything into the preparation. Just frustrating we can’t get over the hump.”
The loss places Alabama's playoff hopes in significant danger. The Tide can no longer afford to suffer a defeat to be certain of a spot in the College Football Playoff. Missing out in the expanded format of the postseason tournament will be a big blow for the program.
Kalen DeBoer doesn't want fans to lose hope
Kalen DeBoer faced a crucial question about what his message to Alabama’s fanbase would be after the disheartening loss. The coach urged the fanbase to stay strong, to keep faith in the team and to rally behind the players in these tough times.
“Don’t lose belief in these guys because there’s a lot of guys making some big sacrifices in ways that people will never know because they just keep plugging away,” DeBoer said.
“And it might be physical things and stuff like that, but they’re working hard, and they have a lot of pride in who they are individually and who we are as Alabama.”
Two losses after seven games isn't a familiar scenario for Alabama football. The last time they were in this situation was Nick Saban's first season in 2007. DeBoer will look to turn things around in the next couple of games.
