Kalen DeBoer is making waves at Alabama ahead of his first season with the Crimson Tide. On Sunday, Ty Haywood, the No. 2 ranked offensive tackle in the class of 2025 per 247Sports, announced his commitment to Alabama.

Haywood announced his decision to join Alabama on X. He posted a heartfelt message for his supporters and family and tweeted:

"I am 1000% COMMITTED to the University of Alabama."

As per reports, Haywood had offers from 33 schools, including top programs like Florida State, TCU, Georgia and Oklahoma. The fact that the Ryan High School star chose Alabama over several other programs is a big compliment to coach DeBoer and his staff.

Haywood reportedly visited the capstone in Alabama on May 31 and met with Chris Kapilovic, the team's offensive line coach. Kapilovic is also reported to be the primary recruiter of the player.

As per 247Sports, Haywood is listed at 6-foot-5 and 285 pounds. He has the build for an offensive lineman and a great understanding of pass protection, zone blocking and combo blocking.

Furthermore, Haywood is the fourth five-star Class of 2025 prospect to commit to Alabama. The other top prospects are quarterback Keelon Russell, wideout Caleb Cunningham and cornerback Dijon Lee.

In an interview with Blake Toppmeyer of USA Today, Kalen DeBoer opened up on the honor of replacing the legendary Nick Saban at Alabama.

Saban coached at Alabama for 17 seasons before announcing his retirement in January this year.

“Embracing the moment is a privilege that you get that comes along with being at a place like Alabama. So, enjoy it. A lot of people would love to be in your shoes. That’s the way you’ve got to look at it,” DeBoer said.

Across nine years as a head coach, DeBoer has compiled a stellar 104-12 overall record. He coached five years at Sioux Falls, two years at Fresno State, and two years at Washington, where he led the Huskies to the national championship game in 2024.
