One of the biggest things that came out of Week 6 in college football was the Alabama Crimson Tide losing to Vanderbilt, along with senior defensive back Malachi Moore's actions towards the end of the game.
During his press conference on Monday following the 40-35 road loss to the Vanderbilt Commodores, coach Kalen DeBoer discussed the situation and said there will not be a suspension handed to him.
"We have handled it and I'm just gonna say this about Malachi and what he did. He has gone above and beyond in taking ownership, and this is from immediately after the game to this morning. Things that are all prompted by him and also part of our conversations. The thing I want Alabama fans to know is that this guy has been rock solid and a critical piece, alongside others, at keeping this program together... This guy loves Alabama football."
However, the big thing that DeBoer focused on was that it was time to have Moore's back after he has had the program's back throughout the transition from Nick Saban to him.
"Was there some things that he regrets and wishes he didn't do? Yeah, but he's owned up to it and handled it internally... Doesn't make it right by any means but I want people to understand that he has had my and our backs since Day 1."
What did Alabama Crimson Tide veteran Malachi Moore do to cause an issue?
The Alabama Crimson Tide were outplayed in Week 6 as the Vanderbilt Commodores defeated them for the first time in their last 23 tries. After the Commodores converted their game-clinching first down, Moore kicked the football that the officials set, which resulted in a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty.
After the penalty, DeBoer sent a substitution for Moore and he seemingly refused to come out of the game for the final snaps. This caused a massive issue immediately as people began to vent their frustrations on the actions and question the leadership of the Crimson Tide after losing to the Commodores.
While people were speculating that a suspension could happen, it is evident by DeBoer's statements that a suspension is off the table.
