Kalen DeBoer's Alabama Crimson Tide will face Kirby Smart's Georgia Bulldogs this weekend for a blockbuster SEC clash. In the build-up to this game, DeBoer spoke to ESPN's Marty Smith, sharing a simple message to his team.
"It's all about us."
For the first time since 2007, Alabama comes into a home game as underdogs.
This is due to the Bulldogs team, who, while they are currently not the number one ranked program in the country (that honor befalls the Texas Longhorns thanks to their victory over Michigan), are one of the favorites to win both the SEC and the national championship this season.
The pressure will be on Alabama to deliver at home. They'll have quarterback Jalen Milroe lead their offense.
Milroe has done well so far, scoring eight touchdowns. He's joined by numerous Alabama players, such as Ryan Williams and Jam Miller, who also had a good start to their seasons. However, the Georgia Bulldogs will be the first test for these players.
Alabama will need to focus on themselves and ignore all of the noise from the media and from the Bulldogs camp.
Kalen DeBoer talks about how his team has prepared
Kalen DeBoer spoke about how his team has been preparing for this big game. He said during his weekly radio interview on Wednesday:
“After practice, I shared with the guys I really liked where their heads were at, I felt like the work was being done on a high level. The energy was great. You can tell in the focus. … But I also felt like we were not tight.”
DeBoer sounds confident that his team is in the right frame of mind going into the game. They are treating this game just like every other one.
By doing this, DeBoer is setting the Alabama Crimson Tide up with the best chance to defeat Georgia.
