The Kansas Jayhawks will host the UNLV Rebels on Friday at 7 p.m. ET. Kansas is coming off an upset loss on the road against Illinois. The Jayhawks are 9.5-point favorites to defeat UNLV at home on Friday. However, entering the matchup, Kansas does have some key injuries.
Kansas injury report Week 3
The Kansas Jayhawks have four players dealing with injuries ahead of Week 3.
David Abajian, OL
Kansas offensive lineman David Abajian is out for the entire 2024 season with a knee injury.
The freshman offensive lineman was a three-star recruit in the class of 2024.
Keaton Kubecka, WR
Kansas wide receiver Keaton Kubecka is questionable to play due to an undisclosed injury.
Before Kansas' season opener, coach Lance Leipold didn't think Kubecka would be able to return anytime soon.
“I’m not sure yet on both,” Leipold said, via Yahoo. “I would think Caleb will be there sooner than Keaton.”
Kubecka is a freshman who was a three-star recruit in the class of 2023.
Jarred Sample, WR
Kansas Jayhawks wide receiver Jarred Sample is questionable to play with an injury.
Sample is a freshman receiver who has yet to appear in any game for the Jayhawks this season. He was a three-star recruit in the class of 2023.
DeShawn Hanika, TE
Kansas tight end DeShawn Hanika is out after having an injury to his leg. He was ruled out for the remainder of spring practices.
“DeShawn will be out for the rest of the spring with a leg injury,” Leipold said, via CJOnline. “He had surgery, and that’s about as far as I’d like to go right now with that.”
After further evaluation, it was ruled that Hanika suffered a torn Achilles and will miss the entire 2024 season.
Hanika is a senior and hasn't played since 2022 when he recorded 17 receptions for 244 yards and four touchdowns.
