The No. 16 Kansas State Wildcats face state rivals Kansas Jayhawks in the "Sunflower Showdown" during week 9 of the 2024 College Football season. The game is on Saturday at the Bill Synder Family Stadium. The kickoff time is 8 p.m. ET.
The Wildcats (6-1, 3-1 Big 12) are coming off a victory over the West Virginia Mountaineers last week. On the other hand, the Jayhawks (2-5, 1-3 Big 12) are coming off a comfortable win against the Houston Cougars last week.

The No. 16 Wildcats have a promising offense. Led by quarterback Avery Johnson, the team scored at least 30 points in all games but one.

Johnson threw for 298 yards and three touchdowns in the victory over West Virginia. After the game, Wildcats coach Chris Klieman said:

Kansas State also has a good run game. Running back DJ Giddens leads the Big 12 in yards (843) this season. He and Johnson should cause headaches for the Jayhawks.
Meanwhile, the Jayhawks' 42-14 victory over the Houston Cougars snapped their five-game losing streak. Their win can be largely attributed to their four touchdowns on their opening four drives.
However, the Cougars struggled in this game, with Jayhawks defender Cobee Bryant posting a school-record three interceptions.
“I was like, ‘Are you really throwing the ball to me?' He was just donating the ball to me,” Bryant said after the game.
However, while this victory was impressive, the Cougars were the weaker side, so victory was likely for Kansas.
The Jayhawks are likely to struggle against the superior Wildcats. They will not be able to keep up with Johnson and Giddens.
