Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver Asaad Waseem entered the transfer portal after struggling to find playing time. He spent the past two years at Colorado and only played in two games in 2023 and none in 2024.
After Waseem announced that he was entering the transfer portal on Monday, Coach Prime showed his support with a tweet on Wednesday:
"This kid can flat out play. He’s caught in the numbers game with us and I wanted him to go and have a chance to START elsewhere because I care about him. Great young man whom grew a lot with our program and a Florida boy! Love ya man. Remember our last conversation and go get it!"

Asaad Waseem enters the transfer portal after struggling in Colorado for two seasons
Asaad Waseem entered college as a promising three-star prospect. ESPN ranked him as the No. 143-ranked wide receiver in his class and No. 157 player from Florida. However, 247Sports had him higher, as the No. 120-ranked WR and the No. 112 player from Florida.
He signed with the Buffs and had the opportunity to learn under Coach Prime. However, while he might have learned a lot, he had few opportunities to play, making only two appearances in his rookie season.
His first appearance came against Washington State, where he played on special teams as a kickoff returner. He played the same role again in the final game of the season against Utah, returning one kickoff for nine yards. Those were his only on-field contributions during his Colorado stint.
Although Waseem had limited on-field involvement at Colorado, his high school accolades and potential make him an intriguing option in the transfer portal. He recorded 2,842 yards, 176 receptions and 36 touchdowns over 47 games in three years with the Ocoee Knights in Florida.
Teams in need of a wide receiver or special teams contributor will likely show interest in Waseem. In the meantime, he will continue to practice with the No. 23-ranked Buffaloes as they prepare for the Alamo Bowl against the No. 17-ranked BYU Cougars on Dec. 28.
