The Ole Miss Rebels secured a huge victory over the Georgia Bulldogs at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in week 11. With this 28-10 victory over their SEC rivals, the Rebels have secured a three-game winning streak and are successfully getting redemption for last season's blowout 52-17 loss.
Ole Miss fans at Oxford were visibly elated with this week 11 victory. However, this happiness led them to celebrate prematurely as they stormed the field 16 seconds too early before the game was brought to an end. A clip shared by ESPN on social media shows these fans rushing in from all sides of the stadium and celebrating in the middle of the field.
Fans shared their reaction to this premature celebration on social media. One fan commented that Georgia head coach Kirby Smart was having difficulty digesting this loss to the Rebels.
"LMAOOO KIRBY IN SHAM"
Another fan compared the fighting spirit of these Ole Miss fans to that of Georgia on the field.
"These fans showed more fighting spirit than Georgia did this game."
This fan felt that the field storming was like rubbing salt in the wounds of the Georgia Bulldogs.
"They are punishing the Bulldogs, I can't watch no longer."
Another fan stated that this behavior by the fans of the Rebels is disrespectful towards the game of football.
"Rushing the field 16 seconds early? It's like they couldn't even wait for the game to end-does this show a lack of respect for the sport, or just the excitement of the moment."
This fan felt that such field-storming incidents should come with some penalties that benefit the game.
"Should be a penalty against the rushing team and automatic 2 minutes on the clock, possession of the ball and automatic first down."
Despite the chaos, the fans soon settled down for the final seconds of the game. Once it was officially over, they rushed to the goalposts on the field and tore it down in celebration of this historic victory over the Georgia Bulldogs. As per reports, 68,126 fans were present at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium amid the light downpour.
Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart showed class against the Bulldogs
Jaxson Dart joined the Ole Miss Rebels in 2022 after spending his freshman campaign with the USC Trojans. He has been the starting quarterback of the team since then and once again put up a commendable performance in week 11 against the Bulldogs.
Early in the first quarter, it looked like Dart sustained an apparent ankle injury and was taken to the locker room. He then returned to the game after it was assessed that his injury was not serious and helped his team emerge victorious. The Ole Miss QB completed 13 of 22 passes he attempted, while recording a total of 199 passing yards and one TD pass.
After this win, the Rebels have secured an 8-2 campaign with two games remaining in the regular season. They are next scheduled to take on the Florida Gators before the Egg Bowl rivalry showdown with Mississippi State.
