Kirby Smart and his No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs make a trip to Austin this weekend to play the No. 1 Texas Longhorns in their first SEC meeting. There’s a lot of anticipation ahead of the big matchup as the Bulldogs seek to avoid their second defeat of the season against the undefeated Longhorns.

The quarterback position is one of Texas’ most explosive weapons. The Longhorns boast Quinn Ewers and backup Arch Manning, both of whom have impressed significantly this season. However, Smart refuses to be disturbed by the threat of the two signal-callers.

“It doesn’t change how we prepare,” Smart said via On3.com. “They’re not really different style quarterbacks. They’re both really good. I’ll say this. You watch the games that Arch played — he played really well. He did some really good things. Look at his numbers.
“He played and he comes out the first couple plays against Mississippi State ripping it and firing it in his first SEC play and played really good. But, Quinn’s a great player. They have a great quarterback. They got a great situation because they’ve got two guys that really both came in and are playing well,” he added.

Ewers has thrown for 890 yards and nine touchdowns in four games this season, leading the Longhorns to big wins over Michigan and Oklahoma. Manning, on the flip side, has thrown for 901 yards and nine touchdowns, capitalizing on his game time in Ewers’ absence.

Kirby Smart calls Texas the most complete opponent this season

Having played Clemson and Alabama this season, Saturday's game against Texas will mark the third powerhouse program the Bulldogs will have faced on the road this season. However, Smart believes the Longhorns are the most complete of all, posing a significant threat.

“The most complete team that we’ve seen or faced this year and probably multiple years. When you look at what they’re doing defensively, offensively and special teams,” Smart said.
“They are clearly one of the best teams in the country with what they do. They’ve got a great quarterback, great defense, great scheme, it should be a great matchup. This is really why you come to Georgia to play in these moments,” he added.

Texas ranks No. 7 in the national in total offense this season with an average gain of 495.5 yards per game. On the other hand, the Longhorns lead the nation in total defense, allowing an average of 229.7 ypg.
