As the 2024 college football season enters its final stages, rumors about the future of Deion Sanders have become more prevalent.
There have been rumors that the Dallas Cowboys are interested in bringing him in as their next head coach. There have also been rumors that whichever team drafts his son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, could bring Coach Prime in as their head coach.
However, on Wednesday, November 20, analyst Jason Fitz appeared on the 'Gojo and Golic' show to discuss the possibility of the father-son duo staying together in the NFL. Fitz talked about how many teams are concerned about keeping the two of them together in the NFL.
He said some teams are worried that while the duo has worked for the No. 16-ranked Colorado Buffaloes (8-2) this year, it could cause problems in the NFL. Fitz talked about how if the team ever wants to fire Deion Sanders or cut Shedeur Sanders because one of them is not working out, it could cause a lot of drama.
Additionally, Fitz continued his comments by making a comparison to the most recent first-overall pick, quarterback Caleb Williams of the Chicago Bears. His father has tweeted out things criticizing the coaching staff, and he is not even on the team.
"There's a real concern for whoever drafts Shedeur Sanders, even if Deion isn't a part of the package. Look at what we've seen with Caleb Williams' Dad. Dads right now are not afraid to go to social media and say. 'This isn't going well!'" Fitz said.
"There's a concern that if you draft Shedeur, you will have to deal with Deion in front of a microphone questioning if his kid's being developed right. Whether or not the coaching is right. These are real things that are being talked about and real things that are going to come into the conversation of what to do with Shedeur."
Does Deion Sanders want to go to the NFL?
While there have been rumors that teams like the Dallas Cowboys are interested in hiring Deion Sanders, he has repeatedly stated that he is happy in Colorado. At a press conference on Tuesday, he said:
"I'm happy where I am, man. I've got a kickstand down. You know what a kickstand is? That means I'm resting. I'm good, I'm happy. I'm enthusiastic about where I am. I love it here, truly do."
Whether this is how he feels or a negotiating tactic is unclear. However, Deion Sanders has reiterated publically on several occasions that he is happy in Colorado.
