The LSU Tigers had a disappointing final stretch of the season. Earlier in the year, it was looking like a near lock that the Tigers (7-4) would qualify for the playoffs. There was even a chance they would win the SEC Championship, but that is no longer possible.

A disastrous three-week stretch, including losses to the No. 15 Texas A&M, No. 7 Alabama and Florida, ended those hopes. Despite a 24–17 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday, the playoffs are no longer a realistic possibility. Fortunately for the Tigers, they still have the opportunity to play in a bowl game.

LSU bowl projections 2024

In Week 0, the LSU Tigers were in the top 10 of the AP Top 25 Poll. They looked ready to compete for the SEC Championship and should have been a near-lock to make the playoffs. However, after a three-game losing streak, the Tigers can no longer make the playoffs.

The Tigers have three conference losses, and as a result, cannot catch Texas. Additionally, they do not have the tiebreaker requirements to make the championship game as the second team even if every team ahead of them lost in Week 14. Additionally, they have fallen out of the AP Top 25 Poll, so they can't make an at-large playoff berth.

As a result, their post-season will consist of a single bowl game. There are several options for which bowl game they could be selected for.

What bowl game will LSU play in?

Since LSU will not be in the college football playoffs, several non-playoff bowl games could be selected. CBS Sports projects that the Tigers will play in the Texas Bowl against TCU. 247 Sports projects that they will play in the Music City Bowl against Nebraska.

However, those are only a few of the possibilities. Other bowls that feature Southeastern Conference teams are the Gasparilla Bowl, Birmingham Bowl, Liberty Bowl, ReliaQuest Bowl, Citrus Bowl, Gator Bowl and Duke's Mayo Bowl. It is impossible to say which game the Tigers will appear in, but projections favor the Texas and Music City Bowls.

LSU football schedule: Key games remaining

The Tigers have one game left, which could impact their bowl projections. A win could earn them a spot in a higher-profile bowl game.
