The no. 14-ranked Texas A&M Aggies (7-1) pulled off a surprise upset victory over the eighth-ranked LSU Tigers (6-2) on Saturday.

But A&M used an onslaught of offense in the second half to win 38-23 after LSU jumped out to a 17-7 halftime lead.

Heading into the game, the Tigers were looking to keep their six-game winning streak going. This included a 29-26 overtime win over no. 18-ranked Ole Miss a few weeks ago and a 34-10 win over Arkansas a week earlier.

The Aggies (7-1, 5-0) won their seventh straight game and stayed atop the SEC standings.

Texas A&M also struggled early and pulled starter Conner Weigman partway through the third quarter. He was replaced by Marcel Reed, who led the impressive comeback over the Tigers.

He only threw the ball twice but had 70 yards, which outdid what Weigman had in 18 passing attempts. Additionally, Reed stood out as a runner, carrying the ball nine times for 62 yards and three touchdowns.

LSU performance analysis

LSU had more offensive yardage (429) and first downs (20) than Texas A&M. It also converted better on third down, succeeding on eight of 17 attempts. However, turnovers proved to be the issue for the Tigers, as they had three interceptions at crucial times.

Texas A&M performance analysis

The Aggies had fewer yards with 376 and fewer first downs with 17. They were not as efficient on third down, only succeeding on six of 15 attempts. However, they only had one turnover and were far more efficient in the running game. They had 4.9 yards per carry compared to the Tigers' 1.0.
