Colorado has been one of the surprise packages of the 2024 college football season. The Buffaloes struggled significantly in Deion Sanders’ first season in Boulder but have turned the tide around. They are 7-2 at the moment with a chance of making the Big 12 championship game.
FanDuel’s Kent Padgett was one of Colorado's top critics when Sanders took over. The analyst didn't believe Coach Prime leading the Buffaloes to success. In a recent video on TikTok, Padgett admitted he was wrong about the team following their performance so far this season.
The public apology of Padgett on his past views about Deion Sanders and his team has got fans wild on social media. The development has made the Buffaloes more proud of what they've achieved so far this season. A fan shared the clip on X, and wrote:
"We made his a** apologize y’all"
One fan wrote in the comments:
"The apologies better be as loud as the hate was"
Other fans said:
"Looks like eating that crow hurt a little bit," another fan wrote.
"Respect to him for this pls can y'all tag him," another fan wrote.
Colorado has bigger aims than bowl eligibility
Colorado secured a bowl game qualification following its victory over Cincinnati in Week 9. This is a noteworthy milestone for Deion Sanders in his tenure in Boulder. However, the coach made it known that the goal was beyond that after the encounter with the Bearcats.
"That's (bowl eligibility) not all we're after," Sanders said. "That's one of the hurdles that we're jumping over, that we're going over. That's a tremendous hurdle, that we're happy, we're excited, but that's not the end goal for us. That's the beginning, but we are thankful and appreciative that the hard work is going noticed.”
The Buffaloes now have a shot at making an appearance in the conference title game if they win out the remaining games on their schedule. This will be a monumental achievement for Sanders and the program.
Colorado’s College Football Playoff chances
Colorado remains in the frame to secure a spot in the College Football Playoff. However, the chances are not so high at the moment due to the team's strength of schedule for the season.
Nonetheless, making it to the Big 12 championship game will increase the Buffaloes' chances sporadically. Winning the title will also offer them automatic qualification and a bye in the first round
“We ain't think about the playoffs right now," Sanders said. "We go one game at a time. We don't even want to be ranked. Don't rank us, please. We don't like that. We rather be in the back, in the dark, just chilling in the cut. We are good, we are cool. We are straight. All right, so don't feel pressure to rank us.”
The Buffaloes have a lot to play for in the rest of the regular season. They are scheduled to play Utah, Kansas and Oklahoma State in the remaining games, a trio that has struggled significantly this season.
