“Makes offensive line the scapegoat”: Former Jets scout warns NFL teams about Shedeur Sanders by giving a detailed analysis

Shedeur Sanders is set to enter the 2025 NFL draft, where he is considered an early first-round pick. While many have heaped praise on the Colorado quarterback's abilities, former New York Jets scout Daniel Kelly has pointed out some of the flaws in his game.

On Tuesday, Kelly tweeted a detailed analysis of Sanders' playing style, while also alarming a few NFL teams of his shortcomings.

"I am warning teams not to dismiss Sanders sack totals by accepting the popular narrative that makes the offensive line the scapegoat and to ask themselves 'What’s really taking so long for Sanders to get the ball out of his hand?'" Kelly tweeted as part of his in-depth analysis on Sanders.

In September, Sanders appeared to put some of the blame on his offensive line for not protecting him when CU lost 28-10 to Nebraska.

"I mean, how many times did Raiola get touched?" Sanders said after the game, referring to the Cornhuskers' quarterback and the superior play of Nebraska's offensive line.

Sanders, who led Colorado's offense for the rest of the season, was sacked 42 times in total. In the 2023 season, he was sacked an NCAA-worst 4.7 times per game and 56 times in total.

Shedeur Sanders boosted his draft stock in final season with Colorado

Shedeur Sanders had a fabulous final season with Colorado, in which he boosted his draft stock immensely. The Colorado quarterback completed 353 of 477 passes for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. He also rushed for four touchdowns across 13 games.

Sanders led Colorado to a 9-3 record in the regular season, helping the Buffs qualify for a bowl game for the first time since 2020. However, No. 23 CU eventually lost the Alamo Bowl 36-14 to Big 12 rival, No. 17 BYU, on Dec. 28.

Due to his stellar outings in 2024, Sanders was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

Now, it remains to be seen where Sanders will land in the NFL.
