Some college football fans believe that the New England Patriots took a subtle shot at Deion Sanders' Colorado through a practice video posted on Thursday. The NFL team shared a clip of their quarterback, Jacoby Brissett, throwing a long pass to a teammate, followed by a different angle of the player making a catch.
The Patriots captioned the video "Darts only" with a bullseye emoji, reminiscent of the Buffaloes' post from the previous day.
College football fans on X didn't take long to decipher that the Patriots were trying to mock Colorado, leading to some comical reactions.
"Love the camera cut. Just like Colorado did," one tweeted.
"Making fun of Colorado lol," tweeted another user.
"The whole Sportsworld clowning Colorado. Love to see it." a third tweeted.
While some fans were puzzled at the Patriots' rather awkward practice video clip, others pointed out that only those who follow college football would understand the context.
"You’ll get it if you follow cfb," one tweeted.
"Seeing the confused NFL only fans in the replies is funny", tweeted another user.
Another fan claimed that the Patriots were simply having fun with Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
"Have fun with it. CU#Shedeur2," a user tweeted.
Amid the Colorado Buffaloes' fall camp, the team posted a video on Wednesday that showed Shedeur Sanders releasing a deep throw down the right sideline. It was then followed by a harsh cut to wideout LaJohntay Wester hauling in a touchdown catch.
Fans blasted the Buffaloes for editing the video to make the play seem elite. However, the team then released a couple of unedited videos showing different angles of Sanders' throw to Wester in its entirety.
Deion Sanders appears to be hitting back at CU allegations with cryptic tweet
Deion Sanders' Colorado has been in the news for all the wrong reasons, from reported locker-room fights to bullying players out of the program. While some allegations against the team have been proven false, Sanders appears to have had enough.
On Wednesday, "Coach Prime" appeared to hit back at some of the accusations against his Buffaloes team with a cryptic tweet.
“When a person u don’t know talks about a person u do know what’s the goal of the person u don’t know? When a person u do know responds to a person u don’t know now that person is known. I choose to keep that person u don’t know Unknown and Thirsty to be known," Sanders tweeted.
Deion Sanders' Colorado will open its 2024 season by hosting North Dakota State on Aug. 29.
