Captain Malachi Moore encapsulated the shock of former No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide's 40-35 loss to the Vanderbilt Commodores in Week 6 of college football action. The safety slammed Vandy quarterback Diego Pavia's head on the turf, threw his mouthguard, and kicked the ball away drawing an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty alongside refusing to be substituted for Bray Hubbard.

Moore who is one of the Tide's most important players in the dressing room as a link between the retired coach Nick Saban era and new coach Kalen DeBoer issued a public apology on Instagram on Monday.

"I want to apologize to my teammates, our coaches, the fans, our alumni and my family for the way I acted on Saturday," Moore wrote. "I was completely out of line. I let the emotions of the game get the best of me and put myself before the team."

During an episode of the "Next Round," fellow Bama captain Tyler Booker addressed the Malachi Moore situation.

“We’ve all had a conversation with Malachi,” Booker said. “We all know where he’s coming from. He’s a competitor. Anybody who has been in a situation like that, anybody has been here for their fifth year, they would feel the same way. Did he go about it the right way? No. But we all appreciate how much Malachi cares."

Malachi Moore criticized by former Bama RB

During an episode on "The Athletic's" podcast, former Alabama running back Damien Harris criticized Malachi Moore for his conduct in the loss to Vanderbilt.

"No. 13, Malachi Moore, brother, I don't know you. I'm not trying to disrespect you. But what you did last night on that football field was complete and utter (expletive). You are a two-time captain. Somebody who has your hand and footprint in Denny Chimes. How did you show up yesterday?" Harris said.
"The only thing I remember seeing from you is slamming the guy's head on the ground unnecessarily. Punching yourself, throwing your mouthpiece. Not even in a way of, like, OK, nobody's looking. Like, 'I'm bigger than the game," Harris said.

Damien Harris further accused Moore of manufacturing his anger for the cameras.

"I'm bigger than the team. I'm bigger than this moment. Like, everybody look at me. Look at how pissed off I am. Look at what I got to say about it. Let me pick up a ridiculous 15-yard penalty for no apparent reason.' And you call yourself a two-time captain?" Harris said.

Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer batted away questions about the Malachi Moore incident chalking it down to the frustrations of the game but Moore will be on thin ice for the rest of the season.
