Speculation was high around Arch Manning and his potential transfer due to his lack of playing time at Texas under coach Steve Sarkisian. However, the teenage QB reaffirmed his loyalty to Texas before the Peach Bowl game against the Arizona State Sun Devils.
Sam Spiegelman, a national recruiting analyst, gave his take after the 19-year-old QB revealed that he plans to offer his services to the Longhorns in 2025. Spiegelman tweeted:
"The Manning Family does not believe in the Transfer Portal. Arch has never flirted with the idea of transferring from Texas"
Manning said:
“I really have no plans on entering the portal or anything. So I don't really know about it, about all the windows and everything."
Whether Manning is Sarkisian's preferred choice next year or not, he'll don the burnt orange jersey in August 2025.
CFB analyst gives take on Arch Manning's situation at Texas in 2025
College football analyst RJ Young predicted a bright future for Manning in Austin. On “The Number One College Football Show,” Young said [04:55]:
“I think we're entering a place where, if you have the money, you will overpay to have not one, not two, but three capable players at the quarterback position. Because we're seeing you're able to keep them, right? It's not become about playing time early; it comes out playing time later.
"Arch Manning is aging into being the starting quarterback in 2025 at Texas. I expect that to be the case."
Young’s comments came amid heavy rumors linking Quinn Ewers to powerhouse programs like Oregon and North Carolina. If Ewers transfers, Manning could rise as Texas’ offensive leader, a transition that aligns well with Sarkisian’s offensive schemes.
According to Young, Manning’s skill set makes him a perfect fit for Sarkisian’s system, unlike Ewers, who requires more strategic caution in open-field situations.
With Manning committed and Ewers’ availability for next season in flux, the Longhorns are preparing for the Peach Bowl on Wednesday.
