The Michigan Wolverines are in the midst of a rebuild and landing a quarterback would make things a lot easier for coach Sherrone Moore. After having J.J. McCarthy under center for last season's national championship team, the program found itself without a clear starting quarterback option heading into this season.
Michigan saw the trio of Davis Warren, Alex Orji and Jack Tuttle, each with at least 44 passing attempts this season, but none of them has stood out. Instead of developing one of them to be the quarterback of the future, it appears coach Moore is going to be targeting five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood, who is already committed to the LSU Tigers.
The Michigan Wolverines need a quarterback and Underwood has emerged as their top target. It was reported last month that the NIL package for Underwood could be worth around $5 million over the course of three to four years. However, On3 Sports is reporting that the Michigan Wolverines are prepared to offer Underwood $10.5 million over four years.
At the time of writing, the exact NIL package from LSU for Bryce Underwood is unknown. The expected signing date for Underwood is Dec. 4, so it will be interesting to see if he sticks with LSU or if his interest shifts before.
Who will be the quarterback for the Michigan Wolverines next season?
Even though the Michigan Wolverines are looking for answers under center this season, they are not going to get help until next spring. The obvious answer would be getting Bryce Underwood to commit to the school but that is not something that could be 100 percent locked in.
Instead, there also has been some chatter that Top 100 2026 quarterback commit Brady Hart could decide to reclassify. If he does that, it certainly will help Michigan's quarterback woes. The problem here is that he is only 16 right now and does not seem too eager to reclassify at this time.
It seems like Sherrone Moore is either going to be landing Bryce Underwood or attacking the NCAA Transfer Portal for a player like Miller Moss, Thomas Castellanos, or whoever else looks for a new home next season.
