"May she rest in peace": College football world mourns the loss of Coach Bob Stoops' mother, Dee Stoops

It has been announced that Dee Stoops, the mother of Kentucky Wildcats coach Mark Stoops, has died. The Kentucky Wildcats announced this news via a social media post on Wednesday that read:

"In loving memory of Evelyn "Dee" Stoops who passed away last night. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Stoops Family."

The Stoops family pays tribute to Dee Stoops

Dee Stoops was the mother of Bob, Mark and Mike Stoops. All three have been involved in college football coaching.

Bob Stoops led the Oklahoma Sooners to a national title in 2000 and is now a coach in the XFL.

Mark Stoops has been in charge of the Kentucky Wildcats for 10 seasons and is the coach with the most wins in program history.

Mike Stoops was the head coach at Arizona and is now the linebackers coach under his brother at Kentucky.

In tribute to his mother, Mark Stoops told an SEC coaches teleconference:

"My mother was a very special person, to me and to so many people..And much like my father, she was the type of person who had a great impact on everybody she meets. Everybody she met in her life and certainly her family."

While Mike Stoops wrote this in tribute:

"She was the heart of our family and a constant inspiration to all of us. We are blessed with a multitude of wonderful memories and so appreciative of all of you keeping all of us - my brothers, sisters, and their families in your thoughts and prayers."
