After a Miami fumble, Kent State capitalized with a quick touchdown, taking a 7-0 lead early. The RedHawks responded later in the quarter, forcing a Kent State interception and answering with a one-play touchdown to tie the game at 7-7.
Miami forced a punt and capitalized with a 45-yard field goal to take a 10-7 lead into the second quarter. The RedHawks scored the lone points of the second quarter thanks to a 34-yard touchdown catch from Javon Tracy.
The RedHawks dominated the third quarter, forcing a punt to open the period and capitalizing with a touchdown to cap off a seven-play, 61-yard drive. After forcing two more Kent State punts, Keyon Mozee took a carry 74-yard to the end zone for a touchdown, giving the RedHawks a 31-7 lead going into the fourth quarter.
