Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders have a huge season ahead of them in 2024. Both quarterbacks are entering their final season of eligibility in college football and are hoping to end on a high note. This is mainly to ensure they boost their draft stock ahead of the 2024 NFL draft.
Ahead of the 2024 college football season this fall, the two quarterbacks were seen together at a throwing practice alongside Kyrone Drones. It was a pretty intense competition between the three signal callers who will play a crucial role in their team in the upcoming season.
Cam Ward was seen in the video trash-talking with the other two quarterbacks in the throwing practice while pushing them to improve their throws. Shedeur Sanders was also seen giving some swift reply to the Miami quarterback as they continued the drill.
Miami head coach has high praise for Cam Ward
With the 2024 college football season fast approaching, Miami head coach Mario Cristobal has dropped a positive take on Cam Ward as he takes on the starting role at the program next season.
“He’s helped us evolve,” Cristobal said. “You’re not limited with him. He can do a lot of things. He’s got a tremendous capacity, a super high football IQ and his ability to improvise is sometimes better than the designed play.
“He’s also such a high IQ guy and so systematic that he does play within the system. If it’s not exactly the right call, he can make you right when you’re wrong with your call.”
Cam Ward transferred to the Hurricanes this offseason after two seasons at Washington State. He will play his fifth and final year in college football next season and will hope to help revive the program.
Shedeur Sanders sees himself as the best quarterback
Ahead of the 2024 NFL draft, Shedeur Sanders was questioned about his thoughts on the quarterbacks in the draft. He said he was the best prospect in the position.
“I’m biased, but I don’t see a quarterback that’s better than me, " Sanders told SI's 5th Quarter in February. "I don’t see a QB that went through as much adversity as me, that had four different OCs in 4 years.
“Coming from an HBCU, coming to a Power Five, having real pressure on me. A lot of people don’t understand, that’s a lot more adversity than you think, just even being the son of Deion Sanders. You put any of those guys in (my) situation, they’re not doing that.”
Sanders had a noteworthy season with Colorado in 2023 despite the struggles of the program. He threw for 3,230 yards and 27 touchdowns in what was his first season in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
