Miami (10-1, 6-1 ACC) found itself in a pivotal position, fully in control of its destiny. A victory propels it straight to the ACC championship game, a goal well within its grasp. However, its path is anything but guaranteed, as it faces a formidable challenge against Syracuse (8-3, 4-3 ACC).

With the potential to orchestrate a stunning upset, Syracuse poses a significant threat, ready to derail Miami’s championship aspirations and rewrite the narrative of the ACC race. The Orange have recorded notable success in Fran Brown's first year and they could make it count better.

The Hurricanes entered the game as an 11-point favorite with total points set at 67 points.

Miami vs. Syracuse Summary

Syracuse delivered a stunning blow to Miami's season on Saturday, rallying from a 21-0 deficit to secure a dramatic 42-38 victory. The upset eliminated the Hurricanes from Atlantic Coast Conference title contention and likely dashed their College Football Playoff aspirations.

It looked like it was Miami’s time to challenge for the ACC championship with their performances early on in the season. After starting the season 9-0, the Hurricanes have faltered, losing two of their last three games, including a defeat at Georgia Tech three weeks ago.

It was an electrifying game from beginning to end as both teams looked to end the season on a high note. While the Hurricanes took the first quarter, the Orange fought back in the second quarter to set expectations high for the second half at halftime.

The matchup fulfilled the billing in the second half as both offenses continued to remain explosive. It was a back-and-forth affair as the Hurricanes and the Orange keeps responding to one another with touchdowns, leading to a high-scoring encounter in Syracuse.

Miami entered Saturday’s game with a six-game winning streak over Syracuse, but that dominance ended in a high-scoring shootout. The two teams combined for an astounding 983 yards of offense and 51 first downs. In the end, it wasn’t the Hurricanes’ day.

Both quarterbacks had a good day in office on Saturday. Kyle McCord powered the Syracuse offense with 380 passing yards and three touchdowns, while Cam Ward put up an impressive performance for Miami, throwing for 349 yards and two touchdowns in the exhilarating showdown.
