The No.17 Michigan Wolverines' 16-game winning streak, which dates back to last season, ended in the second game of the Sherrone Moore era. The defending national champions had plenty of turnover in the offseason after Jim Harbaugh left for the NFL.

Additionally, they had 13 players selected in the 2024 NFL draft, the fourth-most of any program in a single year since the draft was reduced to seven rounds in 1994. They have struggled at the start of the season, particularly on offense where they have failed to register 300 yards of total offense in each of their first two games.

Michigan began its season with a 30-10 victory over the Fresno State Bulldogs in Week 1. The team followed it up with a 31-12 loss to the then-No. 3 Texas Longhorns on Saturday. The Wolverines return to action with a matchup against the visiting Arkansas State Red Wolves in Week 3.

It will mark their final non-conference game of the regular season as Big Ten play begins the following week as the No. 11 USC Trojans visit Ann Arbor. It will be the first of three conference matchups against teams ranked in the top 11.

The Michigan Wolverines entered the season tied with the Florida State Seminoles for the tenth-best odds, +2500, to win a national championship. That mark was the fourth-best in the Big Ten. Their title odds have taken a big hit after their Week 2 loss to the Texas Longhorns.

Michigan now has +12000 odds to emerge as national champions. They have the fifth-best in the Big Ten, trailing the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes, No. 8 Penn State Nittany Lions, No. 9 Oregon Ducks and No. 11 USC Trojans. That mark is tied with the No. 19 Lousiville Cardinals for the 19th-best in the nation.

The Wolverines' odds of reaching the College Football Playoff, which sit at +550, are the 24th-highest in the nation and fifth-highest in the Big Ten.
