Michigan faces critical loss in transfer portal

The Michigan Wolverines did well this season, but not everyone is staying put in Ann Arbor. Even though the NCAA transfer portal technically closed on Saturday for this cycle, players from teams like Michigan and Alabama who had games after the deadline are given a five-day window from their final game of the season to enter the portal.

On Thursday, one surprise name from Michigan made the decision to join as On3's Peter Nakos reported that freshman defensive lineman Owen Wafle has entered the transfer portal.

Wafle, who originally committed to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish before flipping to the Wolverines, did not appear in any games for Sherrone Moore this season.

How have the Michigan Wolverines fared in the NCAA transfer portal?

The Michigan Wolverines (8-5) have a lot of changes both entering and leaving the program through the NCAA transfer portal this season. This is the first year that players know that it will be Sherrone Moore's program from the jump of the transfer portal opening.

There are a lot of Wolverines who have entered, but the program has also landed a few massive players as well. One incoming player is running back Justice Haynes from the Alabama Crimson Tide. According to On3, he is a four-star player and will help the Wolverines' running game next season.
