College football insider Pete Thamel opened up on the NCAA investigation against Michigan. Thamel reported there to be 58 instances of illegal scouting.

The Wolverines and Connor Stalions have been the center of the sign-stealing scandal. But according to Thamel, newly appointed head coach Sherrone Moore is also under the microscope now.

Thamel of ESPN reported that Stalions scouted at least 13 future Michigan opponents on at least 58 occasions between 2021 and 2023.

"Our athletic department and university continue to cooperate with the NCAA regarding our ongoing investigation. We do not have an update to share regarding its status at this time," Michigan's football team said to ESPN.

The report also stated that Moore allegedly deleted a thread of 52 text messages with former Wolverines staffer Connor Stalions in October 2023. The texts were allegedly deleted on the same day that media reports came out that Stalions was videotaping opposing teams' sidelines and signs.

The draft claimed that the text messages were later recovered via "device imaging," and Moore is now facing a Level 2 violation.

Thamel said Moore could face a suspension for deleting the text messages with Stalions after he was caught stealing signs.

Michigan investigation: Sherrone Moore is considered a repeat offender

Sherrone Moore was also part of the investigation of the recruiting scandal but he negotiated a resolution to the claims that he was in contact with recruits during the COVID-19 recruiting dead period.

Along with Moore, Michigan staff members Jim Harbaugh, Chris Partridge, Denard Robinson and Stalions are accused of committing Level 1 violations. Michigan is also facing a Level 1 charge, according to the draft.

In the draft for the NCAA's investigation against the Wolverines, it's alleged that multiple team interns and at least one other full-time team employee knew about the sign stealing. The draft claims that Stalions told them all that what he was doing wasn't illegal.
