The Michigan Wolverines will play in the ReliaQuest Bowl on New Year's Eve, facing the No. 11 Alabama Crimson Tide. Although the Wolverines couldn't defend their National Championship or make the college football playoff, they were still given a prestigious non-playoff bowl game.
However, as is the case with all bowl games, neither team will be at full strength. The Wolverines have seven players who have opted out of the ReliaQuest Bowl.

Sherrone Moore comments on ReliaQuest Bowl opt-outs
Sherrone Moore gave support to all his players, expressing that he wished everyone would play, but understood the decisions of all his players.
"I support those guys who've done a lot for this program in their three years, four years here," the Michigan coach said. "And I'll support them in any way. I want to be there for them. Love them. Care about them. Anything they need from me, I want to support them. Obviously, I want them to play in the game, but support their decisions and their family decisions."
Despite several players opting out, the ReliaQuest Bowl remains one of the most anticipated bowl games this year. Heading into the season, many people would have expected a post-season matchup between Alabama and Michigan to be a playoff game or even a National Championship matchup.
However, Michigan had a disastrous start to its season that put it on the back foot to qualify for the playoffs. Alabama, while staying in the mix most of the season, had three losses, including two to unranked opponents in Vanderbilt and Oklahoma.
As a result, fans will not get to see either team in the college football playoff. However, they will be treated to what should be an exciting bowl game.
