Donovan Edwards' story is one of incredible resilience and triumph. In September 2021, a tearful Edwards sat in the locker room after a victory over Washington, feeling the sting of limited playing time.

“I cried in the locker room because I wanted the ball. I wanted to get into the game more. I wanted it. I was so hungry.” he recalled at Big Ten Media Days, nearly three years later. [H/t MLive]

As a standout high school player, Edwards had dazzled with 1,439 rushing yards, 549 receiving yards and 25 touchdowns. But at Michigan, he had to wait his turn behind stars such as Hassan Haskins and Blake Corum.

“I’ve always been the No. 1 guy; always had my number called on, I had to take a backseat to that,” he said.

Fast forward to last January, and Edwards shone on the big stage. In the College Football Playoff title game against Washington, the team that had witnessed his frustration, he ran for touchdown gains of 41 and 46 yards, leading the Wolverines to their first national championship since 1997.

As the Wolverines prepare for the new season, Edwards is focused and determined to make the most of his opportunity.

Donovan Edwards, the standout running back and cover athlete for EA Sports College Football 25, dismissed outside opinions during Michigan Big Media Days.

“It doesn't bother us… we see on a day-to-day basis cuz they're the ones that know what we go through every single day," he said. "So that's the only bond that matters to us, we don't care what naysayer say or what people write about us or what they think about us or even if they give us credit.” [Timestamp - 5:18]

He expressed his commitment to winning every game, including intense rival matchups like Ohio State.

“Ultimately we're going to do whatever it takes to win every single game this year,” Edwards said.
“You're going to have to play whoever you're scheduled to play,” he added. “So, every game that we're going up, every game that we're playing, we're going to take it as getting better every single weekend, doing our best to win every single football game,” he added. [Timestamp - 17:01]

Donovan Edwards also spoke about Michigan’s new coach, Sherrone Moore, who has had ups and downs but knows the secrets to success.
