The AP Poll for Week 7 of the 2024 college football season has been released. It shows that after a week full of upsets, the Texas Longhorns have returned to their spot as the best team in the country.
The poll always generates controversy as fans question why certain teams are in certain spots, and this week was no exception. Here is how College football fans reacted to the poll on social media.
These fans have spoken about the lack of the Armed Forces teams in the rankings. Both Army and Navy are unbeaten but make no appearance in the top 25.
"Why isnt army ranked?" Said this fan.
"RANK NAVY COWARDS" Said another fan.
"Rank Army and Navy you cowards!!" Said a third fan.
"Does strength of schedule hurt Army & Navy from cracking the top 25?" Asked this fan.
These fans have reacted to the inclusion of the Michigan Wolverines at number 24:
"Miami up two spots and Michigan still being ranked is atrocious," said this fan.
"Oregon is not a top 5 team and Michigan is not a top 25 team," said another fan.
These fans have noted that the Big Ten has many of its members ranked, with three of the top five teams being from that conference:
"Big ten is the new power 1," said this fan.
"Big 10 > SEC," said another fan.
"Big 10 superior conference," said a third fan.
These fans have reacted to why their various teams have not made the rankings:
"You bitches are a joke, y'all hate SYRACUSE. All good, you'll learn to love us soon 🏈," said this fan.
"How’s USC not ranked," said another fan.
"Lol you don't rank ASU after a 4-1 start," said a third fan.
Finally, these fans have noticed that while all three teams lost, the Missouri Tigers fell further than the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Tennessee Volunteers. Fans have given their predictions on why this is the case:
"SEC teams lose to unranked teams and both remain in the top ten. Go figure," said this fan.
"You people are criminal… bama losses to Vandy and stays in the top 7… y’all literally cheat for the schools with the most $$$. Hmmm, I wonder why…," said another fan.
"Funny how Missouri didn’t get the same treatment as bama and Tennessee…," said a third fan.
Main takeaways that the fans were reacting to
The AP Poll gave us some surprises this week. After losing to the Vanderbilt Commodores, Alabama only fell six spots to the number seven rank.
On the other hand, the Missouri Tigers, who were heavily defeated by ranked opposition in the Texas A&M Aggies, fell 11 spots and nearly lost their ranking.
Additionally, the current national champions, the Michigan Wolverines, lost this weekend in their rematch against the Washington Huskies. This is their second loss of the season, and whilst their season is now all but over, they are still ranked for some reason.
