Michigan (5-4, 3-3 Big Ten) traveled to Bloomington on Saturday to play Indiana (9-0, 6-0 Big Ten) in a highly anticipated encounter. The two programs have suffered an entirely different fate this season, possessing distinct postseason goals at this stage of the season.
With four losses so far, Sherrone Moore’s Wolverines are already out of contention for the College Football Playoff, giving them no opportunity to defend their title. Securing bowl eligibility is now the goal they sought to achieve against the Hoosiers in the Week 11 contest.
Curt Cignetti had led Indiana to an undefeated season after nine games despite being projected to finish last in the Big Ten in the offseason. The red-hot Hoosiers entered the game as a 14-point favorite against with defending national champion with the total points set at 47.
