Quinn Ewers has received criticism from a Texas insider over his Week 12 performance. The No. 3 Texas Longhorns (9-1, 5-1 SEC) defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks (5-5, 3-4) 20-10 on the road in Week 12 on Nov. 16 despite an uninspiring showing by the Texas QB.

The Longhorns starting quarterback ended the game completing 20 of 32 passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns.

After the game, OnTexasFootball college football insider CJ Vogel was critical of Ewers and questioned whether he's good enough to lead a championship-caliber Longhorns team.

"I don't know what the remedy is for Ewers. I don't know if there is a remedy for Ewers. This might just be who he is. And if it is, it's a damn shame because the rest of this team is good enough to win a National Title this season," Vogel wrote.

The Longhorns' win over Arkansas was a step down for Quinn Ewers from last week. In Week 11, Texas had a commanding 49-17 victory against the Florida Gators (4-5, 2-4) on Nov. 9. Ewers had a great showing with 19 of 27 completed passes for 333 yards and five touchdowns.

In the post-game press conference, Vogel shared on X that Sarkisian was happy with his quarterback's play against Arkansas.

"I thought he played pretty efficiently," Sarkisian said.

"I just don't think we started the game like we wanted to": Quinn Ewers on Texas' close win against Arkansas

Quinn Ewers said in the press conference that the team didn't play as well as they had hoped in the first three quarters and took responsibility for their offense issues.

"It all starts with me, obviously. But you're gonna have games like this. You know, at the end of the day, I think we did a good job of staying poised and composed and kept track," Ewers said.

When speaking on the team's frustrations, Ewers openly stated that the Longhorns weren't able to start as they had planned before the game.

"I mean, I just don't think we started the way that we wanted to, and you know, that's always frustrating whenever you put a good plan together, and you think you're go start fast, and it doesn't work out that way, and I think it was a little frustrating for everybody," Ewers explained.

He added that despite the issues, their close win showed that the team offense was mature and credited the defense for making plays throughout the game.

Quinn Ewers and Texas will play again next Saturday at home against the Kentucky Wildcats (4-6, 1-6) in Week 13.
