The Colorado Buffaloes under Deion Sanders, aka Coach Prime, finished the 2024 season with an improved 9-4 record after their 36-14 loss to the BYU Cougars in the Alamo Bowl on Saturday.
The game represented significant departures from the Buffs, led by the NFL-bound Shedeur Sanders and the reigning Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter.
On Monday, Prime Video announced on X that season three of the charismatic coach's popular series, 'Coach Prime,' would premiere on Jan. 7. With the departure of his sons, Shilo and Shedeur, the Buffs coach has been repeatedly linked with several NFL jobs.
College football fans on X had mixed reactions to the announcement of the series premiere.
Some fans were simply excited to watch the series to get peeks at the behind-the-scenes clip from the Buffs' program.
"Probably going to end up watching this. Huge fan of what he's done with Colorado," one fan tweeted.
"If a faith walk ever got tuned into a tv series…," another fan tweeted.
"I'm ready to see how the editing n episode for the Baylor game is gonna turn out that was the one of the best games of CFB," one fan tweeted.
Coach Prime addresses legacy concerns
Since his arrival in Boulder in 2022, the Colorado Buffaloes have been trendsetters in terms of marketing and branding and how the coach has flipped the program's roster via the transfer portal.
After the humbling blowout loss in the Alamo Bowl, Sanders addressed a question about his legacy in college football, outlining his aims for the players that he has coached.
"I don't think we consider that (legacy) at all, we really don't care. We don't know what that means, the legacy," Deion Sanders said. "We're just trying to develop these young men, win games, make sure they're consistent men in the community, their relationships, with their families and in school and to get their education.
"We don't think about it like that. We're thankful that we play a role in that, but that (legacy) does not enter our mindset one bit."
Sanders also spoke about the raised expectations that now surround his team after finishing tied atop the Big 12 standings in the Buffs' first season in the conference. This came after them being picked to finish in the bottom pile in a media preseason poll.
“We’ve established expectation,” Coach Prime said. “So now, you expect us to perform a certain way. You expect us to win. You expect us to be exciting. You expect us to (be) a lot more disciplined than we’ve displayed (Saturday). You just have expectations of us now. That’s what we’ve established.”
Apart from the loss of key players, the Colorado staff will also see significant turnover with the departure of offensive line coach Phil Loadholt and defensive ends coach Vincent Dancy. This will force Coach Prime into big hires in the offseason, alongside confronting his future in Boulder.
