How much does Mike Gundy make?
Mike Gundy makes $7.75 million in 2024, according to The Oklahoman. He got a $1 million bonus for still being the coach on signing day and his annual $125,000 raise, which brought his 2024 salary to $7.75 million.
With Gundy making $7.75 million per season, he is the 15th highest-paid coach in college football. He is ahead of Wisconsin's Luke Fickell, who makes $7.6 million and below Mario Cristobal's $8 million, according to Front Office Sports.
Gundy is the highest-paid Big 12 coach, as the next on the list is Utah's Kyle Whittingham, who makes $6.5 million per season.
Mike Gundy can also make more than his $7.75 million with certain bonuses in his contract. The 57-year-old receives a bonus for reaching and winning the Big 12 championship game.
Mike Gundy and Oklahoma State are off to an undefeated start
Mike Gundy has led the Oklahoma State Cowboys off to a 2-0 start in the ongoing season.
The Cowboys rallied to beat Arkansas in double overtime in Week 2 at home. Oklahoma State has the third-best odds of winning the Big 12, at +600, which implies a 14.3% chance of winning the conference.
Gundy and the Cowboys will go on the road to play Tulsa in Week 3. Oklahoma State is a sizeable -18 favorite to defeat Tulsa after an OT win over Arkansas in Week 2.
Despite the Cowboys winning their last game, Gundy was frustrated with himself, as he says he got outcoached.
“The majority of the problems was we got outcoached,” Gundy said, via The Oklahoman. “Then our players were put in the wrong positions. (Arkansas players) were running wide open. The good news is this: it’s fixable. If players don't have schemes that give them an equal opportunity or a better opportunity than the opponent, you’re exposed.”
After their game against Tulsa, Oklahoma State will host Utah in Week 4 in a pivotal game for the Big 12.
