No. 1 ranked Texas hosted Mississippi State on Saturday in what was expected to be an exciting Southeastern Conference encounter. The Longhorns are arguably the most dominant team in college football this season and they entered the game as an overwhelming favorite.

The Bulldogs’ start to life under Jeff Lebby hasn’t been impressive with just a win in the first four games. They were given little chance of staging an upset at home against Steve Sarkisian's team, which currently holds the top spot in the AP Poll.

Mississippi State vs. Texas Summary

As many would have anticipated, Texas dominated its opponent in the SEC encounter on Saturday. The Longhorns recorded another blowout victory after defeating Mississippi State, which started with a Jaydon Blue one-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter.

After starting slow in the first quarter, Mississippi State tried to get back into the game in the second quarter with two field goals. However, a 49-yard touchdown pass from Arch Manning to DeAndre Moore extended Texas' lead less than a minute before the end of the first half.

The third quarter of the game was almost barren. However, the Longhorns were able to exert their dominance in the game with a 21-yard touchdown from quarterback Arch Manning in the last second of the quarter.

Texas got things going in the fourth quarter after Arch Manning once again located DeAndre Moore for a 27-yard touchdown pass to extend the lead with 9:30 left in the game.

Mississippi State responded with a touchdown of its own after quarterback Michael Van Buren Jr. rushed 12 yards to the end zone with 6:12 minutes left in the SEC encounter.

The Longhorns were not done as they further extended their lead through Alabama transfer Isaiah Bond, who made a 26-yard touchdown run to the end zone with 3:03 left in the game, marking another dominant win for Steve Sarkisian's team.

Texas started life in the SEC on a brilliant note with the dominant win over Mississippi State. The team has been able to flourish despite the absence of starting quarterback Quinn Ewers, with Arch Manning living up to expectations in the backfield.
