The Texas Longhorns will begin life in the Southeastern Conference on July 1 in a move that will forever change the program and the landscape of college football. In honor of this, the school is having a celebration on June 30.

To top off the festivities, Texas has obtained the services of one of music's biggest stars. Mr. Worldwide himself, Pitbull.

"We are so excited to welcome the burnt orange faithful back to the Forty Acres to celebrate Texas with all of our traditions, pride and passion," Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte said in a statement. "This is an amazing moment in time for the University, Athletics and the city of Austin as we join the SEC, and there's no better way to celebrate than with a giant party, and we can't wait for Pitbull to put a punctuation mark on an incredible day."

Pitbull's performance will conclude a day of celebrations. Dubbed the "UT SEC Celebration," the city of Austin will be engulfed by a massive party and celebration of the Texas Longhorns and their achievements.

The highlight of the day will be the SEC ceremony that will be held in the evening in front of the university's iconic tower. SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey will welcome the Texas Longhorns to college sports' premier athletic conference. Pitbull will follow this ceremony, keeping the party going all night.

Can the Texas Longhorns be competitive in the SEC?

One of the first tests that Texas will face as an SEC member will be its first football season in the conference. This will be its main benchmark for success, as the SEC has been dominant in college football, winning 14 national titles since 2007.

The Longhorns will be up against some of the biggest programs in the sport, will now call the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide conference rivals and will have to compete with them for spots in the College Football Playoff.

However, this is the perfect time for Texas to do this. Its football program is one of the best in the country.

Led by quarterback Quinn Ewers, the Longhorns won the Big 12 in their final season and gained their first spot in the CFP last year.

Ewers, one of college football's best players, is returning for one more season, and the Longhorns are strong enough to immediately challenge Georgia and Alabama for the SEC championship.

The Longhorns could be having more celebrations in the future, and their next one could be after becoming national champions.
