Former NFL and Baylor Bears quarterback Robert Griffin III opened up on comments mocking FSU's College Football Playoff snub in the 2023 season. The Seminoles went undefeated and won the Atlantic Coast Conference but were still left out of the playoff by the CFP committee due to an injury to star quarterback Jordan Travis.

Heading into the 2024 college football season, many fans were still taking aim at Florida State after the preseason AP Top 25 Poll was released on Monday. The Seminoles were ranked 10th, which had some people questioning the ranking. However, Griffin made it clear that the Seminoles are still an elite college football team.

On Tuesday, RGIII wrote a long post on X, which read:

"Anyone who is throwing shade at or trying to take cheap shots at Florida State for being left out of the College Football Playoff last year must be out of touch with reality. FSU wasn’t a team that was kept out because they lost a game down the stretch. They are a team that were kept out because their starting quarterback fractured his ankle.
"THAT’S NOT SOMETHING TO MAKE LIGHT OF. The players on that team, the coaches, their families and the fans certainly were crying tears for one of the most beloved players in all of college football in Jordan Travis.
"Then they scrapped their way to an undefeated regular season with a 2nd and 3rd string QB. That team should be CELEBRATED for what they pulled off down the stretch not mocked."

Griffin certainly made a fair point that FSU did accomplish a lot last season, despite losing its starting quarterback. However, it still wasn't enough for the CFP committee to put the Seminoles into the playoffs.

After missing the playoffs, Florida State played Georgia in the Orange Bowl and was blown out 63-3.

FSU is the favorite to win ACC

After winning the ACC last season, Florida State is the favorite to clinch the conference title once again.

The Seminoles are +290 to win the ACC, which implies a 25.6% chance of winning the conference. FSU is also given +140 odds of making the College Football Playoff in 2024.

The school has not made the playoffs since 2014, which is the lone time it made the postseason in the four-team format.

FSU will open its 2024 college football season on Aug. 24 against Georgia Tech. The Seminoles also have notable games against Clemson, Miami, Notre Dame and Florida.
