Shelomi Sanders was the only child who stayed under the care of Pilar Sanders after her divorce from Deion Sanders. Shilo and Shedeur were with Coach Prime at the finalization of the process.
In June 2022, Shelomi and her mother joined the "Second Shot" podcast, where Pilar Sanders shared her emotions about Shelomi's upcoming high school graduation.
“I'm so excited for her,” Pilar Sanders said of Shelomi's preparation for college. “I'm excited for her. Oh my gosh, my baby is gonna be gone. I'm an empty nester.”
The start of Shelomi’s college career at Jackson State made her move closer to her father, Deion Sanders, who was the Tigers football coach. It was also a reunion with her brothers, Shedeur and Shilo, who also enrolled at the university.
Shelomi Sanders' college career so far
Shelomi Sanders started her college basketball career at Jackson State while her father, Deion Sanders, was still at the university. However, when Coach Prime secured the Colorado job, she transferred to Boulder midway through her freshman season alongside her two brothers.
The move to Colorado wasn't eventful for Shelomi, unlike her brothers, who were in the school's football program under their father. In her redshirt freshman season, she only appeared in five games for the Buffaloes, averaging 0.6 points and 0.6 rebounds.
At the end of the season, she needed to make a huge decision for herself. In a decision Coach Prime didn't find pleasant, Shelomi entered the transfer portal to continue her college career elsewhere in the landscape. She subsequently announced her transfer to Alabama A&M.
“I don’t want to say anything too bad,” Shelomi said of her decision to transfer on a livestream in August. “It just wasn’t good energy. It wasn’t good vibes. There wasn’t enough being poured into me as a player and young lady. If I didn’t leave when I did, I promise you I would’ve quit.”
The early days at Alabama A&M have been fantastic for Shelomi Sanders. She's appeared in all three games, and she's quickly becoming an important member of the team.
