Deion Sanders Jr. has opened up about his mother Carolyne Chambers' struggles and vowed to offer her financial assistance. The former SMU wideout also explained how he was never able to travel like other celebrity kids. This was due to him staying with his mother after her divorce from Deion Sanders Sr. in 1997.
During an appearance on the Reach The People Media podcast, Sanders Jr. spoke about his mother working hard to make sure he was well taken care of.
“I can’t afford to buy a fu***ng section, to travel like that, that’s why I’m literally just sitting in Dallas. Like, I don’t have enough money to just move around like that," Sanders Jr. said.
“My mom deserves to do different things. My mom wants to go to Egypt to see the pyramids. I can’t help do that. My mom needs help paying the bills cuz now she’s broke because she done helped me out too much.”
Sanders Jr. appeared to suggest that Carolyne sacrificed a lot for him only to end up in financial trouble later in life. As a young boy, he wanted to help, but the age restrictions placed on his trust fund only added to the frustration.
"The trust fund sh** don’t work. It’s like the sh** is stupid. You can’t touch that sh** till you 30,” Sanders Jr. said. “Now that I’m 30, it’s a blessing I don’t even need to touch that sh**.”
Nonetheless, Sanders Jr. has used his mother's past struggles as motivation to work hard and help her financially. He launched his clothing brand after calling it quits on his college football career in 2016. Moreover, he runs a YouTube channel, titled Well Off Media, where he uploads music and vlogs.
