The 19th-ranked Missouri Tigers have been dealing with a bunch of injuries to key players in today's game against the Auburn Tigers and that includes running back Nate Noel. It appears he re-injured his foot with 10:59 remaining in the second quarter as pass interference was called and he came out of the game for the remainder of the first half.
ESPN sideline reporter Taylor McGregor talked about Nate Noel's status as the game entered the second half. The team listed Noel as doubtful but he apparently had different plans.
"Also leading rusher Nate Noel is dealing with a foot injury, he is also unlikely to return. But Mizzou wants to run the football." h/t On3
Noel did come back into the game for one carry in the second half as of this writing to test out the injured foot and recorded a 6-yard rushing attempt but has not been on the field for most of the second half thus far. For the game, he has six carries for 32 yards and has not been targeted in the passing game.
It will be interesting to see if Noel can get back on the field or if the injury was just too much for him to bear at this time.
What has Nate Noel done this season for the Missouri Tigers?
Senior running back Nate Noel has done an outstanding job in his senior season for the Missouri Tigers, as he has become a threat in the running and passing game. Entering Week 8, Noel had recorded 79 rushing attempts for 471 yards (6.0 yards per attempt) with a pair of rushing touchdowns as well as 14 catches for 45 yards (3.2 yards per reception).
He creates a massive target for himself on the field as the opposing defense will try and game plan around his ability to take over a game. This injury makes players like Marcus Carroll have to step up in his absence. Noel missed the 45-3 road win over the UMass Minutemen with the injury.
